Bio: I am Dr. Tariq Mahmud. I was graduated from Govt. College, Lahore, Pakistan in 1978. I did my M.Sc, M.Phil and Ph.D from Institute of Chemistry, University of The Punjab, lahore, Pakistan. I started my teaching career, as a Lecturer (Chemistry), Islamia University, Bahawalpur. I have also pursued extensive teaching in the Institute of Chemistry, University of the Punjab, Lahore, and taught Inorganic Chemistry courses to BS, MS, M.Phil and Ph.D students. I have been given BEST TEACHER AWARD in chemistry for the year 2002 by the University of the Punjab, Lahore. I have supervised about 70 graduate and post graduate students in the research area. I have been declared PRODUCTIVE SCIENTIST OF PAKISTAN-2007 (notified by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of Pakistan). In order to fully involve the students in their studies, I focus on research and scholarly activities to teach them about research design, experimental procedures, project writing and statistical techniques. I have been granted Research Productivity Award, 2012 by Pakistan Council of Science and Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of Pakistan. Exposure to research literature is an integral part of my course plans. This skill makes students thoughtful consumers of scientific ideas presented in both academic and research sources. I have done a number of collaborative research projects in Chemistry and Environmental science and about 48 research papers have been published in International as well in national peer reviewed research journals. I have been member of many learned bodies like the following; • Pakistan Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. • Pakistan Society of Food Scientists & Technologists. • Chemical Society of Pakistan. • Board of Studies in Chemistry, University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan. • Board of Faculty of Science, University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan. • Board of Studies in Chemistry, Minhaj University, Lahore, Pakistan. • Board of Studies in Chemistry, Kinnaird College for Women, Lahore, Pakistan. 1. In addition to making changes in response to student progress towards course goals and student feedback, I continually refine my teaching techniques by attending workshops/ conferences. I have attended and participated in various national and international conferences: • 18th National Chemistry Conference held at Institute of Chemistry, University of the Punjab, Lahore under the auspices of Chemical Society of Pakistan, in Feb- 2008, (Oral presentation). • 42nd IUPAC Congress, held in Glasgow, UK, in August-2009. • The 2011 International Conference on Water, Energy and the Environment, American University of Sharjah (AUS), Sharjah, UAE, in November, 2011, (Oral presentation). • International Conference on Environment (ICENV 2012), 11th -13th December, 2012, organized by the School of Chemical Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).
